Adoption
requirements

YOU ARE ADOPTING FROM THE CITY OF SULLIVAN NOT HALO

Adoption fees from the pound are $30 which includes rabies vaccinations.  Adoption fees for pets under 4 months old are $10 with adopter being responsible for having their new pet vaccinated. The city accepts cash only, please bring exact amount.

Out-of-state adopters must make arrangements with animal control or Halo or to assist in obtaining the required health certificate prior to adoption.

All animals from the pound must be spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption or as soon as pet is old enough.

Halo gives adopters a half-price spay/neuter certificate (not to exceed $50) for animals adopted from the pound (while funds continue to be available). These are redeemable at Sullivan Veterinary Hospital, Animal Clinic of Union, St. Clair Pet Hospital, and Krakow Veterinary Clinic. Other veterinarians may be used; a copy of proof of surgery and the certificate would need to be mailed to us for reimbursement.

Mail to PO BOX 735 Sullivan, MO 63080

Spay and Neuter Contract with City of Sullivan

The following is the text from the spay/neuter contract for any pets not spayed/neutered before leaving the pound.

As adopter, by signing this contract, I agree this is a legal and binding contract that I will have my adopted dog or cat spayed or neutered by six (6) months of age. I will provide proof of spay or neuter to the City of Sullivan Animal Control Officer within that time frame. If spay or neuter cannot be accomplished by the above date, I will contact the City of Sullivan Animal Control Officer before that date. If proof of the spay or neuter has not been received and there is no contact from the adopter to the shelter, the City of Sullivan reserves the right to confiscate adopted dog or car and as the adopter, I forfeit adoption fee.
By signing this agreement, I acknowledge to provide proof of spay or neuter with a veterinary certificate and itemized receipt on veterinary letterhead showing veterinary contact information and the date that the spay or neuter was performed.
